Street dance

Street dance is a term covering all styles that evolved outside of dance studios in streets, school yards and nightclubs. It began popping up in the United States in the 1970s.
It’s especially popular among the younger generation. This broad group of styles includes contemporary hip hop, old style hip hop (as it was known in its early years), hype, house and funky (also widely known as lockin’, or more rarely: poppin’). Dancers are moving freely and often try to invent and create their own personal style.
It’s a unique style through which dancers express their feelings and which is usually connected to a certain musical genre.
It’s also a whole lifestyle and includes specific clothing like loose pants, long t-shirts , loose T-shirts, baseball caps, sneakers, etc.
